Sanibel Island Beaches InformationIf you are planning on visiting the Sanibel Siesta Beach Rentals or another location please view the list below as it shows important Sanibel Island beaches information that you may want to know prior to visiting.

Tolls: There is a $3 toll to get onto the beaches at Sanibel/Captiva islands; a $3.25 toll to get to Gasparilla Island.

Parking: On Sanibel, general parking is $2.00 an hour. There are parking stickers available; you can call 239-472-3111. On Captiva, both Turner Beach and the public access at the very tip of the island are metered at 75 cents an hour or $3.00/day. On Fort Myers Beach, parking is free at accesses and in the lot just before the bridge. Bonita's accesses #1 and #10 are metered parking.

Public Transit: From mid-December through the Easter holiday, there is a 25 cent trolley that is available to Bowditch Point Regional Park, Lynn Hall Memorial Park, Lover's Key/Carl E. Johnson State Recreation Area, Little Hickory Island Beach Park and Bonita Beach Park from the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call Lee Tran, 239-275-8726.

Pets: With the exception of Dog Beach, pets are not permitted on county owned beaches, including the Sanibel Causeway, Captiva Beaches, and some areas of Fort Myers Beach. Pets are allowed on a leash on Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach. Pets are allowed in only the park area of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. Pets are also allowed in the park of Lovers' Key, but not in the water or on the beach. Dog Beach, located just west of the New Pass Bridge in Bonita Springs, offers free parking and an off-leash romp for your pet.

Alcohol: Prohibited on Lee County controlled beaches. Allowed on Fort Myers Beach in front of bars and hotels that sell it. Be careful not to stray far from the hotel area with alcohol because law enforcement is stringent on Fort Myers Beach. Alcohol is allowed on Sanibel beaches at all hours during the summer and fall, but it is unlawful to have alcohol on the beaches one hour after sunset through one hour before sunset between December 15 and May 15.
